The 9.0 mm compact Lebedev pistol (PLK) is a modern example of individual short-barreled weapons, which are supplied to the employees of the security forces of Russia. However, the forensic literature does not contain comprehensive data on the traces of its use. The authors, based on the study of the material part of this model of weapons and the conducted experimental study, analyzed the characteristics of traces on fired bullets and spent cartridges. The signs that are displayed in the traces of a close shot on obstacles are described and illustrated. The data provided will be in demand when conducting forensic ballistic examinations and studies to determine the model of the weapon, as well as to determine the shooting distance. They can be used in the training of ballistic experts in educational institutions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
