The article considers important personal and professional qualities of a law enforcement official: autonomy, internal locus of control, ability for the formation of the behaviour on the basis of the coping-strategy. The results of the empirical investigation of the abilities of the senior course cadets of the institute of the Ministry of Internal Affairs are reported. The article gives the analyses of the results of the investigation which showed that the general internality, autonomy and seeking self-actualisation of most cadets are on the low level due to the authoritative ideology of the educational process. The possibility of the construction of the educational process on the basis of the person-centered-approach is discussed in the paper.
