The article is devoted little-explored problem - the study of the Far Eastern theater of operations before and during the First World War 1914-1918. One of the main reasons for the defeat of Russia in the war against Japan, 1904-1905, was poorly studied that region . In subsequent years, the Russian Defense Ministry has paid considerable attention to the direction of Far East . The result was the information that allows us to take adequate measures to strengthen the eastern borders of the empire
