Abstract (English):
This article deals with the concept, the content and evolutionary changes of the evidentiary process that are of interest to legal scholars. Historical development of the legal system of Russia is linked to the Romano-Germanic system. The basic principles of Roman criminal procedure are used now in the Code of Criminal Procedure of the Russian Federation.
