Global digitalization and universal access to information and telecommunication resources, including the Internet, have a dual impact. On the one hand, they stimulate the development of all spheres of public life, and on the other, they create prerequisites for the transition of criminal activity into the digital environment, generating new opportunities for committing crimes. The scientific article provides statistical data indicating an increase in cases of public dissemination of knowingly false information in the sphere of public safety, which necessitates the study of elements of the forensic characteristics of these criminal offenses.
