An investigative inspection is one of the most important and labor-intensive investigative actions and allows one to obtain initial forensically significant information about a crime. Despite the high level of theoretical development of investigative inspection tactics, law enforcement activities very often encounter difficulties in conducting it in relation to individual objects or in certain complex conditions. One of these is conducting an investigative inspection under the special regime in place in penal institutions. The specialized institution of the Main Directorate of the Federal Penitentiary Service is a closed-type institution. Therefore, not all investigative inspection tactics are feasible. In this article, the authors examine the specifics of investigative inspections conducted in correctional facilities.
